Higgins Lake - North State Park
Looking for deeper, clearer and less sea weed? Higgins Lake - North State Park in Roscommon Michigan is about 30 minutes from St Helen and is known for some of the clearest water in Michigan. We use to camp here when our kids were little, but we still enjoy the large public beach and huge swimming area. Watch out for swimmers itch! They have a boat launch near here as well! *Note - Michigan Park Pass require for entry. (Usually $12).

HOUGHTON LAKE is one of the largest resort areas in the state and home of the largest inland lake in Michigan. It is located 20 mile west of
Stones Throw Cottage.  Houghton Lake is notable for the annual winter carnival, Tip Up Town USA, held in January.
